About Lois Kang
Hello! My name is Lois Kang and I am a recent graduate from California College of the Arts. Being Korean American has led me to travel to and from South Korea to visit family and from that it has led me to travel internationally around Asia, Europe, Mexico, and in the States. Traveling to different countries and cities has always been a big part of my life and has influenced my design practice and how I view the world.
I am passionate about graphic design because I believe it is creative, practical, and communicative. I believe that design is another way of storytelling in a very compelling way because as designers, we have the ability to communicate a message visually and also use different design assets to present an idea. I am a solution-orientated designer interested in learning more about branding, brand systems, UX/UI design, and the business aspect of design. I value heavy research, brainstorming, mapping and sketching as a huge part of my process. I enjoy collaborating with people from similar industries to different industries because it helps me open my mind and view ideas in different perspectives.
Having interned at two companies; I have also done a few freelance projects on the side for various clients; Yen Sushi Bar, Pokeppoki, KSJ design-build, and a cyber security consultant.
I am a very curious person and I love learning new things. I love traveling, spending time outdoors, and meeting new people throughout my journeys. I also bartend for private events which helps me with my networking skills. My creative hobbies include screen printing, oil painting, and creating mixed media art.
